What this is

Free ATS Resume Checker is a single-page web app that scores resumes against any job description, runs entirely in the visitor's browser (nothing is uploaded), and is released under MIT license on GitHub. There is no signup, no email harvest, no paywall on the core tool.

Why this exists

Existing online ATS checkers either upload your resume to their server (Jobscan, ResumeWorded, GoodSpace) or paywall the score after 2–5 free scans. For someone applying to 50+ jobs and iterating week to week, that pricing model doesn't match the use case. This tool fixes that: unlimited scans, fully client-side, free forever.

Who maintains it

An independent solo developer (@hugounoclaw). No team, no funding, no growth hacks. Built using vanilla HTML/CSS/JS + pdf.js for PDF parsing.

How it stays free

An optional $12 template kit (pay-what-feels-fair from $3) covers hosting/domain costs and keeps the core tool free. There's also a free Quick Fixes Checklist PDF if you only need the printable summary. Neither is required.

Privacy commitments

• No tracking, no analytics, no cookies on the tool page.
• Resume content never leaves the browser. The page has no backend API calls during scoring.
• The repo source is public — anyone can audit that this is true.
• If you make a Gumroad purchase, Gumroad handles your email and payment per their own privacy policy.
