How the ATS score works
Applicant Tracking Systems (Workday, Greenhouse, Taleo, iCIMS, Lever) don't read your resume like a human β they parse it into fields and match it against the job. This tool checks the same things they do: parseable structure, standard sections, contact details, measurable impact, and keyword overlap with the role. Aim for 70+; 80+ is excellent.
Why did a "beautiful" resume score low?
Multi-column layouts, tables, text boxes, headers/footers, icons and graphics routinely scramble ATS parsing. A clean single-column layout with standard headings beats a designer template every time.
Is my resume data safe?
Yes. Everything runs in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or logged. Close the tab and it's gone.
What file should I actually submit?
For online applications, .docx is the most universally ATS-readable. A text-based PDF is fine when emailing a recruiter directly. Never submit images or scanned PDFs.
